Lizzie and I went to the Renaissance Festival in Plantersville, Texas in October.  My friend Jimmy met us at the hotel and escorted us Saturday.  It rained all day, but we still had a great time!.  Liz begged and pleaded to go back Sunday, which was much less wet.  We had an even better time Sunday.  For my birthday, Jimmy took me back to the Renfest for the closing weekend, where we experimented with the adult side of festival... :)  Here are some pics:

Saturday
Liz found this fairy in one of the stores we walked in to.  The fairy gave Liz a necklace and some fairy dust. Lizzie, showing off the pixie dust in her hand. Lizzie also got some dream stones.
Liz and me, in the rain. Rain or shine, the actors put on their show. A parade in the rain.
more parade... ... This man was a little scary.
Lizzie and me pose for a pic. My girl is sooo sweet.  She gives me kisses all the time. The cursing well.  Liz cursed stupidity.  It was for a good cause, cancer research.
Chapel at the festival grounds.  It is quite lovely. A look inside the chapel. Jimmy is such a good friend!  At the hotel, he cleaned the mud off my boots and Lizzie's shoes.
Liz at the hotel, posing for a pic in her new Esmeralda costume which I bought at the festival. Liz, dancing in her costume. I was pretty tired when Liz snapped this photo of me at the hotel.
Liz and Jim play a game of Sorry! ... passed out from shear exhaustion. well, Liz didn't go to sleep right away.  It took another 10 minutes for her to pass out.

Sunday
Liz arrives in style at Sherwood Forest. Me, at the forest. Liz and I ride an elephant
Liz on the maypole themed ride. Liz joins by playing a tambourine in a  band playing in the forest. Liz finds another fun ride to try.  One of the interesting things about a renfest is that ALL the rides are manually operated.
Liz, in front of the water wheel. Liz, by the jousting arena. Liz and I watched a jousting match.  We cheered for the rider in blue, pictured here.

Closing Weekend
James and me at the festival. Me, inside the chapel. Close-up of same photo.
I first saw this creature in the parade, and found myself strangely drawn to the beast. I saw this king in the parade too.  Can you imagine what it takes to create such a costume? I found my monster lurking around in the crowd.  I had to get a pic of us together.  I wanted to take him home with me...
I liked this creature too.  Such an odd being to be attracted to. One must see the Ded Bob show to complete the Renfest experience.  What a funny bone!
