2001

2002 was not the best year for us.  But we did manage to carve out some good memories.  We vacationed at the beach and I attended another MRO user group conference in Orlando.  It's hard to consolidate an entire year on one page, but I've tried to summarize all the highlights as best I could.

Summer vacation at Crystal Beach.  Here, Lizzie poses for a pic in the sandcastle we built. Me, on the ferry from the Bolivar Peninsula to Galveston Island. Liz and grand-dad, playing tic-tac-toe at a restaurant along the seawall in Galveston.
Liz and me at the same restaurant. Liz, coloring a picture at a restaurant, during a short break from shopping along the Galveston Strand. Orlando.  Me, standing in front of the Japanese Garden at the Epcot Center.
My friend Jimmy came with me on my trip. In the area dedicated to the states, we ran across the US Flag found among the remains at the World Trade Center Towers.  Jimmy spent 9 months in the middle east due to this tragedy. I made Jimmy go shopping with me along the resort boardwalk.  This is my 'Feel like playing a game of cat and mouse?' look... ;)
For dinner on our last night, we opted for sushi at a Japanese restaurant located in the Swan hotel.  Jimmy, having spent several years in Japan, spoke to the waitress in her native language, and knew EXACTLY what to order. A view of The Dolphin from it's sister hotel, The Swan. A view of the hotel suites we were staying in.  We had a balcony overlooking the pond, and could throw out bread to the ducks in the morning.
Lizzie's 5th birthday party at the Beaumont Gymnastics Academy (BGA).  This is her before the party, hanging from the rings. Liz's friend Cynthia in the foam pit. Pocahontas birthday Cake!
Liz, with Sam and Cynthia.  These three have known each other since they were 2. Lizzie, opening presents. Halloween!  Liz dressed as Cinderella.  Here she is handing out candy.
This girl, dressed as Liberty, had THE BEST costume of the evening. Liz and my brother Kris, at my grandmother's house.  Thanksgiving 2002. My Uncle Tommy's plane.  He, my dad, Liz, and Kris went for a ride.
Tommy, performing his pre-flight check. Liz roasting her first marshmallow. Christmas 2002.  Liz with her new kitten Sammy.
Week 2 of December, Liz is dressed up to go see a performance of the Nutcracker. Liz, posing for a photo in Santa's sleigh at the Julie Rogers theatre. Liz with the Sugar Plum Princess.  Part of the Saturday morning performance includes time for the kids to visit with their favorite characters.
Liz, posing in front of the tallest building in downtown Beaumont.  Not very impressive, is it... But Lizzie makes it look good. :) The families in parent's neighborhood organize a big evening for the kids to meet up with Santa.  Liz went on a hayride to pick up Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Our friend Jimmy came for a visit Christmas Eve.
Christmas morning.  Liz opens her presents... Lots of presents... Santa's gift to Lizzie, a Barbie Dream Home. ... and she got the diary she asked for, with a matching pencil  holder.
Liz loves to play dress-up, so I got her some more costumes.  This is her modeling one. I took pictures of Liz all day.  She decided to take one of me. That's it for 2002.  Have you ever been so thankful that a year was over?  I was.  2002 for me sucked beyond belief.  Honestly, I was in a place where I couldn't see a light at the end of the tunnel.  But, there is a happy ending for me... just look at 2003!
